There are also undrafted players that can contribute like Rob Kelly. And then there are years where you miss on the draft. which brings me to the patriots' last 2 drafts, 2015-2016.
2015: 11 total picks; 3 starters, 4 backups, 2* players now w other teams, 2 players out of the league /// *a.j.derby traded to broncos and matthew wells to bears
2016: 9 total picks; 1 starter, 6 backups, 1 player now w another team, 1 player out of the league
