Look at Roberto Aguayo, best kicker in college but couldn't make it in the NFL.
He might get his head straight and turn out to be a good kicker down the road but right now he can't kick.

That’s true stats don’t always tell the story. He obviously has a strong leg. But with his field-goal percentage accuracy not being very good it would be interesting to know who the kickers were that were brought in to compete for the job. I’m all for giving someone a second chance but it would have been nice to get a kicker who had NFL experience, hopefully he won’t let the pressure get to him
