I can hear it now, STARTING AT WR FOR THE REDSKINS NUMBER 81 TERREL OWENS.
Great logic.

So is this boiling down to yet another "I told you so" argument?

Fine then, major props to you for calling the incredibly quick hook of Ramsey, but to be fair you were off by about 2 1/2 games.

I'll be waiting for my props when the Skins don't even give one thought to signing TO.
Gibbs is also unlikely to give Art Monk's number to a self-serving piece of waste. But set aside the substantial and undeniable obstacles that Owens's character creates. Could it still happen?

Is this going to turn into "Owens will be a Skin before season end", or "Owens will get signed by the Skins in the offseason."? Both are wrong, but here goes...

The Eagles will keep Owens inactive until the offseason in the hopes that someone will trade for him. Who would do such a thing? If there are two teams showing interest, either of them. Remember, Owens is being "Keyshawn-ed", and someone traded for Johnson. Therefore, we won't have him to close the season.

The Redskins currently have over $3.5 million in dead cap money for 2006. (See here) They also have over $109 million in projected 2006 salaries and bonuses. (See here) While there will clearly be some restructuring and cuts, they will likely not be enough to take on the magnitude of an Owens contract. Even an incentive-laden contract would have to have easily reachable incentives to make Owens interested. While incentives offer some protection, if they are deemed "likely to be reached", they go on the cap figure. Ipso facto, we couldn't afford him.

Besides, even if Snyder overruled all his advisors and his own personal good judgement to treat the franchise like a fantasy team, think of this: would you want Owens on your fantasy team right now? I didn't think so...
