With all due respect to RBG (and I'm glad she's after surgery), Sen McCain, Sen Byrd from long ago.

Government offices have minimum age limits, and they ought to have upper limits too. I would think at 80, should be a mandatory retirement age for all government employees - RBG is a great example of a person who should have retired at 80. Maybe in terms of SC justices you give them one 6 year term at 78 which would allow them some leeway in determining when they retire within a defined range. With RBG that would have meant she could have retired under Pres Obama, or chosen to stay on knowing she would be retiring under a different president.
