Coaches would constantly scream and yell profanities, throw things at players, and whack you in the helmet. In spite of that the favorite punishment for screw ups was making you run laps or sprints. If any of the teams I was on played like the Redskins we would have still been crappy at football, but a bad ass track team.

My kids coach still lives by this philosophy. They do a lot of what he calls "knucklehead conditioning."
