Seems like an odd comment to make if you're 100% behind Haskins as your day 1 starter. I mean, what coaches bring up backup QBs during their introductory press conferences if you have a young 1st round QB who is your unquestioned starter? Maybe he's just not wanting Haskins to get to comfortable. Or maybe he really is going to evaluate all the QBs and make his own decision. That decision almost certainly will be Haskins, but the mere fact Rivera said this could mean that Dan isn't forcing Haskins on him - which is a good thing. Rivera has a 5 year contract. He should have total control during that 5 years over his roster and his starters.
