Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Maybe I’m wrong but it seemed like they went all in for Cooper thinking this would suck up a third or more of their cap. I also think that offering offered him$5 mill more than Dallas and that they thought thy had it in the bag. Cooper would make our WR group ELITE - MacLaurin,Cooper and Steve Sims. The WR would cover up for a weak TE crew or TE draft picks that we’re learning t he ropes. BUT THEN COOPER took less money and staying Dallas. Plan A down the drain!
What is plan B? Do they really have one?
Take two Home Grown very good players (Williams and Dunbar) , who had problems with our FU medical staff and Bruce Allen spun contracts with no guaranteed money in the last year and TRADE THEM? For what? Dunbar has the second highest Pff numbers in the NFL. We might get a second or third rounder for him. The jets have only offered 2 x third rounder for a 7times Pro Bowler.
We have a lot to accomplish in the draft:
1. Replace our best Offensive Lineman
2. Replace out best CB
3. Replace Two TE end slots from a very shallow TE draft pool. The best TE my go in the first and second round of the draft - where we currently have no picks.
I know Kyle Smith has a great 2019 draft. Depending on him to do it again is not a great strategy, especially when so many low picks end up being camp bodies, ST fillers and third string backups before they are let go at the end of their rookie season. Depending on Kyle to get real stars and starters out of fourth, fifth and UDFA two years in a row is not reasonable. I hope he has another miracle draft, but don’t count on it.
What is our real plan b?
