I was a big fan of Ereck Flowers, so letting him go was a questionnable move, which made more sense with the signing of Andrew Norwell for nearly half cheaper.
But Norwell's performance will determine to what extent it was a smart move.
So I went through the Jags week 10 game against the Colts, focusing on Norwell.
Sidenote, Wentz had a decent game, but he was under pressure pretty much every play. I do think better protection will help him tremendously.
Overall I'd say Andrew Norwell plays very well, he's way
less athletic than Flowers, but you can see he's a
veteran, he seems to play very
relaxed, chilled, I think he has
excellent vision, handles
stunts perfectly, moves
well in space on screens and pulls. He has very
good hand technique and makes up for lack of speed with good position.
He has a tendency to get a little
too straight up when he's not in danger and I included a play where that got him beaten. He also got beaten once with a clean swim move. But those were pretty much his only bad plays of the game.
I think Flowers has a better upside, but we got a
solid veteran, no doubt.
