Working in a school there are myriad reasons that police would be brought in but all situations would be for the safety of the student i.e. anything from abuse to weapon access. None of them would involve a six year old being taken out in zip ties. If a student needs to be removed for safety it is so easy to just escort them especially a 6 year old. The problem with Orlando is they do not provide SROs to the elementary school level. SROs go through intensive training in how to properly handle and deescalate situations with minors that the general police force does not have training. Regardless this was an easily avoidable situation that lead to trauma for this girl.
