I have read this on multiple sites just now as well. Not that they said he would exclusively play at the 2nd level, just that he's much more impapctful in it. I guess he'll be spending time in both areas of the field or maybe not. With the additions Peter's & Co are bringing in and the creativity on D that now exists in the building? .... the possibilities are vast.
Wagner played very well last year even at his age and I'm pumped they signed him. I dk t expect a huge fall off in production and beyond that, I read and found this key, he could have hung around and waited for an instant SB contender to make an offer... he chose Quinn and Washington without thinking twice. This is a great influence and immediate respect grab for Quinn and this staff.
I'm feelin it. Not like we used to feel it by giving crazy stupid contracts to aging or shiny players that wouldn't make sense nor pan out here. No. It's smart, quick hitting deals for solid players that will certainly have a defined role on this team. So far I'm impressed and thankful the staff and peters have approached the market without any reserve or ego regarding the shape this roster was left in. This isn't the free agency winning of old, these are sincere attempts at building culture and changing this team with the future in mind. A lot of these players and the contract lengths will take part in molding draft picks in addition to contributing over the next few years. Like I said, hook the fire hose up to the hydrant full of kool-aid and aim it right here in camden County, NJ.
I'm in.
