There's plenty of examples of that. Slavery used to be legal, now its not (in most of the world). Semantic arguments aren't worth engaging in. This isn't a college course and no one really wants to spend 4 hours writing a book report to argue with someone they don't know on the internet.

Yes language changes but in order for it to have changed into a derogatory term it would have had to be used as a derogatory term against someone. Thing is the offended determine what offends them but it's the ones that use a term in a derisive manner that make a term derogatory not those who are the victims of the term. So, did Redskins suddenly start being used widely as a slur starting in the 1980s?
