Big question though, who can they replace him with? Surely if there was somebody they were confident in promoting they'd have done that and fired Whitt instead of demoting him? Who would you be looking at? Poaching a DC or bringing in a young gun ready for the step up?

Will be interesting to see who is available. There could be a decent DC available from a team with a good defense but that has otherwise struggled this year and gets rid of their coaching staff. Cleveland comes to mind -- if Stefanski and his staff are canned, Jim Schwartz would be available. Can't be denied that he's had success in that role. Personally, I'd like a hungry young, talented coach, but those folks are really hard to find.
