Re: Week one post game thread
I'm a little late to this thread, but here we go anyways.
Defense showed major improvement over last year, but still plenty of room for improvement - the big plays killed us, like Hurts scrambling for 22 on 3rd and 18, obviously the big passes and td's as well.
But there was stuff to like on the defensive side as well - we got good pressure on Hurts at times, one highlight reel sack from Sonny that shut everyone who doubted him in preseason up. Run defense was really improved too, we had more TFL in this game than I felt like we had all last year. Felt like guys were swarming to the ball too. We just need to fix the errors we had and it will be a capable unit. And we need Trey Amos back in the worst way too.
Offensively it took time for them to gel, and there is a lot that remains to be seen, but I thought JD had a solid game. He took what was out there, not his fault if receivers can't get open, Blough adjusted in the second half. Offensive line remains a concern, but it probably will all year tbh.
And Tress Way is still the MVP. 36 years old and he still is an asset to the team. Hope he doesn't retire but if he does hats off to a great career.
