I think it depends on whether he has truly cleaned himself up. If he has been totally clean for awhile and demonstrated that he can stay clean, give him a second chance and a low-risk contract (aka small signing bonus).
Otherwise, I don't want him showing up to the weight room (a la Maurice Clarrett) drunk.
