no, when a team lets a player go (cut or trade) they immediately get a cap hit for the remaining signing bonus. the new team get a guy with no gaurantees in his contract, so keeping or dumping him doesn't really make a difference. If you trade and release or just cut a guy, you're hit with his release fee either way, and both teams end up with a player that can be cut at any time without penalty.
though no player would ever want to be traded without getting a new contract.
