Texans | Casserly may land NFL job

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly is emerging as a candidate to replace Art Shell as the NFL's senior vice president of football operations and development. Casserly is under contract to the Texans through June 2007. The position may not be filled until a replacement for NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue is hired. Casserly declined to comment on the position or his possible interest in the job. "I'm under contract, and my total efforts are geared to free agency and the draft and will continue to be," Casserly said.

Eagles | Lurie votes against celebration penalty rule

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was one of three NFL owners who voted against more restrictive end-zone celebrations for the 2006 season. "I voted against it," Lurie said as the NFL owners' meetings. "The celebrations don't bother me."

Also, holmgren said he left the competition committee in part because of the extra it required him to be away from his family. Only 3 teams voted no on the celebration rule.
