Razor burn is caused by two factors:friction and folicle disturbance.
Using a razor in the shower helps both of these by opening your pores like mount Vesuvius. When this happens the razor tends to lift and cut the hairs rather than pulling them out(reducing folicle disturbance) and it makes for a faster cleaner shave meaning less passes(reducing friction). I wholly recomend trying to shave in the shower if you have irritation issues.
