Re: proper condiment for hot dogs?

I've always been a chili dog guy myself, preferably with some chopped onions on top. But if no chili is available, I'm certainly going for the mustard, with NO KETCHUP!

Brud, I was raised on the hillbilly/redneck/white trash (choose your epithet) tradition of boiled hot dogs on a slice of white bread soaked-thru and soggy with ketchup... and I agree with your assessment wholeheartedly!

Dogs prepared in such a manner truly are an abomination. My wife (who is from the Midwest) refers to them as "Hoosier Dogs". Apparently, the word "hoosier" is the Midwest equivalent of "white trash"? I'd never heard that expression until I met my wife.

At any rate, I find "Hoosier Burgers"-- another staple of my childhood-- equally disgusting. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore my mom, but there's a reason I developed into a great cook: survival!
