I would love to see Jesse Lumsden make the roster, and I think his only chance now is if Betts is traded. Betts' production hasn't been great, and he has had injury problems, but Al Saunders' glowing assessment of him tells me that there is a place for Betts and that he brings more to the table than I realized.
I think Betts will probably not be traded. Having someone to play the role of a third down receiving back is important to give Portis a rest. With Randle El, Betts' kick returning may not be as important, but it is an additional skill he brings to the table.
HB - Portis, Duckett, Cartwright (for special teams' work sake mainly), Betts
FB - Sellers
Practice squad - Manuel White, Jesse Lumsden (who won't last the season there before he is picked up by another team)

Patten I would have thought as a keeper, but the will keep thrash for special teams, and he could contribute as a 4th. (call me insane) I was thinking the same thing earlier about Betts, and how Al always praised how impressed he was with him, but the truth rings a little louder when they traded for Duckett. That to me signals they are not as impressed with Betts right now, and given the history of injury problems, dont see him as a reliable back up. If we can get a decent draft pick or even a corner, I say get rid of him. I have never been a big fan of Betts, and his lack of production as a 2nd round pick. All be it, Davis and portis playing in front of him, i still think his history of injuries makes him less appealing as a primary back up. If he cant stay healthy carrying the ball 5 to 8 times a game, I dont know how he would stay healthy getting the ball 10-15 times a game.
