IMO Ryan Clark was not solid or the the answer at SS.
He has more than adequate in pass coverage but his run support and lack of size really hurt the Skins in some critical moments last year. A few runningbacks made him look really bad in some crucial running plays last year.
Adam A. solves the Strong safety run support problem (Clark) from last year, but A.A. does get beat on pass plays on occasion.
We might have overpaid for A.A.

During the regular season, Coach Williams will run schemes that will protect A.A. on pass coverage.
