Re: 9/11/2006: Redskins (0-0) vs. Vikings (0-0)

Well, I'm glad I attended the game, even though we lost, I still enjoyed the experience of being at Fedex and the thrills of being at a game, seeing the action with your own two eyes instead of through a tv camera. Here are some points I'd like to make:

I haven't seen the stats yet, but the Vikings O did a pretty good job against our d. There wasn't a lot of blitzing on our part, and I like to think that can be attributed to the loss of Springs. When G.W. blitzes, he needs to have reliable corners like Springs that can be put on an island and can hold their own. Obviously not having Springs hurt us in that department a bit.

The Vikings d pretty effectively shut our offense down. I saw the screen pass run four times this game, the only one that was effective was the one on the first play of the game. Not only that, but where in the hell was the deep ball? I don't even think Brunell attempted one the whole game.

Speaking of Brunell, normally i'd excuse his performance, but I was rather disappointed at how easily he gave up on some plays and threw the ball away instead of making time by using his legs and taking some chances.

Also, I was rather disappointed with our red zone offense. Two times we were inside their ten yard line, two times we came away with field goals. Field goals don't win games by theirselves. With all the weapons we have on offense, there shouldn't be any excuses as to why we can't punch it in.
