Re: The Ultimate Stat Line

Did you guys read that the other teams coach is bitching about this now. He's saying that they should have pulled this kid when the game got out of reach and that they were just running up the score.
Pursuit of Record Brings Sportsmanship Into Question - washingtonpost.com

That's a bunch of BS if you ask me. It's football, if they had wanted to stop him they should have stepped it up. It's not like the kid is 6'3'' 250lbs of pure beef. In fact, he doesn't look all that big from his picture. EDIT - It was in the article. The kid's not that big but he's strong as hell. At 5 feet 8 and about 160 pounds, McCoy could squat 500 pounds and bench 350.

The coach knew the kid had a chance to break a very impressive national record so he went for it, deal with it! If the record had only been, say, 500yrds the coach would have probably sat him after he broke it, IMO. But it was all the way up at 700+ so they tried to get to it.
Plus, I don't know if this kid wants to try to get a college scholarship, but those don't come easily, so you have to get your name out there.

The other coach needs to use this as ammo to get his team fired up. When are people going to stop babying them?
