Re: If you could start any business, what would you start?
A few years ago a friend and I started a company that filmed local high school football and basketball games then edited them down and posted them online as well as made DVDs to send to different colleges. It was useful for second tier players looking for that extra push to get a scholarship, and for coaches who didn't have the time to travel to see these players. They could just request the DVD or sign on to the website and watch the player.
Unfortunately, some shady dealings by the high schools we dealt with left us broke and out of business. Plus my friend didn't really treat it as a business. With the right business model it could work. It was also strange to deal with some of these college coaches, because these days they want to recruit younger and younger. It's creepy when Seth Greenberg calls you and says he heard about this 11-year old in Maryland, would I mind going to his game Friday night and videotaping him. It made me feel like the bicycle shop dude from Diff'rent Strokes.
