The Ravens got rid of Dilfer. Cincinnatti got rid of Kitna. The 49er's let Montanna go. The Chargers got rid of Brees (sure he had an injured shoulder but..). At some point you have to make the switch for the future. An aging QB needs to be a huge fan favorite in order to stay when there's a young gun waiting on the bench.
