It's definitely a better idea to go with a proven kicker in free agency.
Young kickers coming out of college are such a crapshoot. So many times they don't really develop until a few years down the road.
How many kickers each year taken in the draft become a teams' regular kicker? Maybe 1 or 2 per year at the most?
