Re: Oh Brother Gibbs Right Choice But Maybe Too Late ,thanks Old Man!
3rd ID Soldier. Your post is ridiculous. I think their are several obvious reasons as to why putting Campbell in the game instead of Brunell may have been a bad idea. Did it happen to be a good move? Yes, but that's because the rest of the team decided to show up. I agree with Redskin on the idea that Brunell could have won that game too. Let's think of some possible reasons as to why Gibbs was hesitant to put Campbell in. A) We could not get the running game going. Putting a young quarterback with no starts into a team with no running game may turn out to be a disaster. B)Our offensive line was letting too much pressure in. Do you remember what happened to Patrick Ramsey? His first season starting we had no rushing attack with Trung Candidate and he used to get the crap knocked out of him by opposing defenses. That absolutely destroyed his confidence, and there's no way we wanted that to happen to JC C) Historically first year quarterbacks have not done very well in the NFL, unless your name is Marino or Rothlesburger. D) Just because Campbell knew college offenses, does not mean he could necessarily catch onto an NFL offense, especially one as complicated as Al Saunder's. E) Our defense was not showing up until last game, which would cause Campbell to have to pass more because he's playing from behind all the time. Always playing from behind is tough too. I'm glad Campbell is playing now because he is getting experience, but the point is that we won last week because the ENTIRE TEAM played well, it wasn't just because of the QB switch. Who wrote that article, and why would you post such blasphemy?! Are you a Cowboys fan in disguise? Are you in cahoots with Eli Manning?
