But I agree that a statement that starting 4 years at the college level makes you prepared to handle blitz packages at the NFL level right away is pretty retarded. If that was the case, there wouldn't be a learning curve.

Not to sound like an expert but handleling the blitz is not as complicated as you think it is. These guys are pros and this is what they do all day long. I use to play HS football many years ago and the reads are not as complex. Even in the pros. Ther reads are actually tougher when teams don't blitz because you can have more defenders in coverage. The biggest difference that I see in the pros is you have guys constantly moving around to confuse the lineman. But it leaves you in man coverage most of the time and these reads are easy for the QB. It comes down to whether or not you can pick it up and your WR's can beat man coverage. Or it comes down to whether or not your QB can get rid of the ball, step into the throw and make an accurate throw under serious pressure. Plus take a hit. Eli really struggles with this, he never hangs in there and steps into his throws. He seems to get scared and throws the ball falling away.
One thing I don't see the Skins do ( when teams blitz us) is get the backs out on wheel routes ( sideline routes ) and seam routes (down the middle) as these will kill blites if you can get the time to get the ball off. Tomlinson runs this against blitzes and so does Westbrook. This works becasue you will always have a linebacker trying to cover a back. Pittman on TB runs these routes very well, and Gruden does a great job of designing these types of plays. Our backs only run out in the flats which makes no sense. Portis even mentioned this on his radio show. Zone blitzes can be alot more complicated
