This is 100% true and even more irrelivant. Any coach who wasn't a legend probably would be on a very short leash at best right now. The point is that Joe Gibbs
is a legend. He earned his rep, it wasn't handed to him. There were some erroneous personel errors made by Gibbs and his staff, but remember that he has never earned respect as a personel guy, which should be treated seperately from his coaching ability. I think he's more than capable of learning from his errors as a personel guy. Hell, I think Snyder has learned from his errors, and could be a half decent personel guy. Can't blame them from making mistakes resulting from inexperience, everyone has to start somewhere.
Any coaching errors made this year were probably attributable to a lack of Gibbs' influence rather than to Gibbs himself. I honestly think he learned more this year than all of his prior coaching expierences combined. At the end of the year, he was even reconsidering some of his old-school conservative tendencies, considering going for a 4th and 1 vs. NO before correctly opting to kick the FG. That's the mark of a good coach. Not that anyone should be questioning whether or not Gibbs is a good coach.
From a righting the ship standpoint, is there any coach in the league better at it than Gibbs?
