Personally I choose to take an optimistic view on things since I consider football and the Redskins to be a fun escape from reality. I don't see the point in being pessimistic, if I ever get to that point I'd probably rather just move on to a different hobby.

You are absolutely right, and I think a large part of the NFL's explosive popularity has to do with every team having a legit shot every year to make the playoffs, and fans genuinely believing this. What other sport is that true? It is sure hard for me to get excited about baseball knowing the Nats and Orioles are guaranteed to blow this season.
