I agree. Archuleta was supposed to be the same thing for our defense but he was miserable in coverage, fitting more into a scheme where he plays in the box instead of cover 2. However, I do get the impression that Landry is more of a hybrid, a guy who excels in zone coverage, makes interceptions, and clobbers people too. His one susceptibility could be man coverage, which hopefully our safeties will not be asked to do much.
It looks like he will be much better in coverage than Archuleta. Bottom line is they took the best defensive player available when no one was calling the FO to trade up.
I agree that we need to let the young players develop their skills. You can't have it both ways.
