But I knew I shouldn't have fought him. He barely made my weight class, and I witnessed his previous fights. I wasn't even trying and I was beating him. Then he got in a lucky upper cut, and I got mad...really mad. Now he's not the same.
That bothers me. I know it's just a competition, but it's just a game. Not even for anything serious like a belt or something. Just a match, and I almost killed a guy. I know it's easy to say it's not my fault, and I know it really isn't, but until it happens to you, you just don't know how it feels.
I remember some guy being killed in the ring when I was younger, and I always thought to myself "it's not his fault, the other guy chose to get into the ring", but now I know better. I wager that any guy that has killed someone in the ring has been significantly changed from it. It does something to you. So much so that I have never fought again.
