Age has more to do with it than anything. Steve McNair and Trent Green are AT BEST average QBs in this league right now, with one foot out the door towards retirement. Pete Kendall is an average guard in this league, with one foot out the door towards retirement. They're worth the same in terms of draft picks because Kendall takes up a lot less cap space than McNair and Green do.
Yeah I'd rather have a solid LG in camp back in July, but we didn't. This is making the best of a tough situation.

They are not worth the same in terms of draft picks. A starting QB even of "average" ability, goes for more than a starting LG of average ability. The Skins just got caught by the short and curlys and HAD to pay this much.
