Re: 2007 Little League Playbook

Thanks for all the ideas guys.

I've been doing this a few years now and there's a few things I've realized about coaching little league football:

1) Playaction doesn't work on little kids. They're not looking for the ball normally, they're just blindly running through holes up the middle hoping the ball carrier goes through one of them.

2) They can't grasp positioning in blocking. Last year I had different blocking schemes and they got too confused. This year I simplified things with the Wishbone and just made them block straight on.

3) Passing plays are tough because kids at that age can't form a pocket or protect the QB for very long. Even with the QB we have, he can't run around in the backfield forever. We need a lot of short routes.

I coach kids 11-13, and we had our first practice in pads yesterday and all the leads worked as well as the end-around.

We ran the end-around a lot last year and it was a TD half the time. Misdirection DOES seem to work great in this league.
