I am by no means saying work Portis to death. But Johnson's workload was definitely not the cause here.

I know that workload correlates with injury. Yeah, I'm making an assumption by assuming this play wasn't the product of pure dumb luck, but isn't your risk of injury greatly increased when joints are tired, sore and weakened?
This kind of play happens to most running backs on a per game basis, but they walk away fine. My best guess says that Johnson was an incredible injury risk, and if anything he was pretty lucky to get 8 games in before this happened to him.
I feel bad for the guy, because this is what he gets for giving his team everything he had last year. I doubt he's ever going to be anything good again.
