But overall, I feel that there were a lot of positives to take away from this game. We don't need to walk away from this game with our heads down, the team went all out, played a damn good game, and lost. Sometimes you can put forth a great effort and still lose.
I'm not ok with losing, I'm simply proud of the overall effort I saw today. They are two completely separate things, don't confuse the two.

Now, granted I am younger, too young to have witnessed the Redskins when they were great, but that does not mean as a result I am willing to settle for mediocrity.
I was there to boo Heath Shuler off the field, I was there calling for Norvs head, I was there to realize that Patrick Ramsey wasn't our QB of the future, I was there to curse Dan Snyder for trying to buy a championship by picking up overrated/overpaid over the hill players, I was there to see the likes of Deion Sanders where a Redskins uniform.
And not only have I had plenty to criticize, but I have seen mediocrity through my entire fanhood....and someone believes they are more frustrated then I am?
My father teased my last week saying I was on the verge of tears as a sulked walking through the parking lot of FedEx, and to be quite truthful I was. I have been a diehard Kool Aid drinking Redskins fan my whole life, and have seen nothing better then mediocrity. Hell most the Skins teams I have cheered for over the years have down right sucked ass.
And then, something incredible happened, Joe Gibbs (the legendary coach my father always told me of) came back to my beloved franchise, and for the first time in my 21 years I see a team that is on the brink of being a dynamic competitor, and dare I say a dynasty. With the likes of Jason Campbell, Clinton Portis, Cooley, Moss, Randel El, Mike Sellers, Sean Taylor, Landry, MacIntosh, Montgomery, Carter.... this team could be very very very good very very soon.
Was todays loss upsetting, of course it is any fan with burgundy and gold coursing through their veins is disgusted seeing the likes of TO dunking a football through the goalposts after tearing up your crippled secondary. In fact, half an hour after the game was over I was still trembling from the intense frustration of what I witnessed.
But if you cannot see that JC's effort today was a glimpse of a bright bright future for the Washington Redskins, then you have simply been jaded by the mediocrity we have become accustomed to. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, its a little ways off, but it is steadily growing brighter. And you know what? For the first time in my life, after witnessing a heart wrenching loss to our most hated rival I can hold my head high and wear my Jersey tomorrow with pride, and that makes all the woes Ive witnessed over the years 100% worth it. Long live Jason Campbell. HAIL!
