Re: What is our game plan for victory versus Chicago
My Game Plan:
1. Run the Ball - Just Do It and Stick With It. Run plays that best benefit Portis and his ability to break free. Use a 3 WR set or 4 WR set and RUN the ball on cutbacks or just dive/gut plays up the middle. Go to Shotgun formations and RUN the ball. Give Portis a healthy 20-25 carries atleast and let Betts have some shots in there, but save him for relief.
2. Offensive Line - Dig Heels In and Go All Out. Don't let the D-Line and LBs get to the QB. Open holes to let your back pick up gainers and give the Campbell time to throw when he does. Don't commit knuckle-head penalties in key situations such as the Red Zone and DONT HOLD. ***Side note: Does Randy Thomas come back?***
3. Red Zone Efficiency - Don't Blow It Once You're There. For Christ's sake get rid of the long drives ending ONLY with 3 points. Try some screens and toss plays outside that worked in 2005 instead of going PA or stretch/up the middle. Go run run pass or pass run pass or pass pass run (In other words get atleast 1 run in there that will benefit your field position).
4. Maintaining the Lead - If You Get It, KEEP It. Keep the clock moving, yet move down the field. Keep the defense guessing and don't be repetive with certain plays. Sure, you can run the ball all you want, but don't use the same formations over and over again that make it obvious. Finish the Game..Go for a deep one here and there to keep the defense on their heels and maybe break the game open. These past weeks, we haven't seen those shots late with the lead...try it atleast three times..
With smart Defense like we've had in the past weeks, benefited by a strong Offense using these guidelines set up by good Special Teams play, then I strongly believe the Redskins will come away with Wins instead of Big Ls.
We NEED 4..
Detroit WILL FALL
Arizona WILL FALL
WE NEED to FINISH the Vikings and Bears, and win 2 more against Dallas/NY that would keep us even with the Saints..
Edit: 9-7 will almost certainly clinch the 2nd wild card spot... Arizona and Detroit have schedules they can't cover & if we win 4 NFC games we are more than just "mathmatically alive in the playoffs"
