Re: Time To Take A Que From The Best

I thought we were gonna talk about barbeque...I was waiting on a video from SBF showing us how to take some 'Que from the best.

Would "we" be taking a cue from the Colts if we have this conversation this time last year? Or the Bears? Or the Eagles when they won the NFC East 4 years in a row? For the first time since Joe left the franchise, the Redskins are finally building towards the future. The Win Now mantra of Dan Snyder has been quieted, and Gibbs has been allowed to build his team. And while the records don't show it just yet, that is exactly what this team is building towards. A successful future.

Everyone loves to play the What If game. What if Campbell doesn't go down? What if the offensive line was full strength? What if the Skins win those 5 games this year with 2nd half leads? What if Sean Taylor wasn't murdered? What if...

I can go on and on. My point is, the damn season just ended Saturday evening. The team now has 6 months to re-sign our free agents, restructure bloated contracts, sign free agents, draft college kids, and fill the gaps in preparing for the 2008 season, one of which will build off the momentum of this season...

...a season that saw the emergence of a young QB eager to take the reins, a backup journeyman QB who made up for lost time, a make shift offensive line that was held together by blood, sweat, and Buges' tears, the revitalization of a beat up running back, a defense that came back from the depths of the deep to be respectable again, the coming out party of a Top 5 TE (and while we've all seen it, the rest of the league is now full aware of Captain Chaos, who now ranks with the likes of Gates, Gonzalez, and Witten), and a rookie who excelled at 2 safety positions, and is poised to blossom into a all-pro defensive player.

This team is an injury or 2 and a pick-up or 2 away from being a great team year in and year out. In my opinion, we don't have to take a page from the Patriots. We just have to let our guy do this thing. With year 5 looming, we as fans are finally seeing what the Redskins are capable of doing. Let's hope 2008 is the breakout year we've been waiting for.
