Yeah, but Williams is always trying to involve himself in matters that are beyond his job title anyway. He pretty much became Gibbs' clock management guy in the second half of the season.
From a strategic X's and O's point of view, there is really no better candidate out there than Williams. Problem is that X's and O's are such a miniscule fraction of wins and losses that you almost have to choose your coach entirely on more humanly factors.
The single most important quality for a head coach is that the players respect him and enjoy playing for him. All records aside, if your players like you, you have a good chance of achieving coaching success.
