My limited understanding of the cap is that if we cut him before the roster bonus is due, we cannot designate him as a June 1st cap cut. I'm pretty sure that
signing bonuses can only be prorated over 5 seasons. That being the case and assuming Lloyd is cut before this March roster bonus, $6M will accelerate against our 2008 cap, and Lloyd will be off the books by 2009.
The previous post regarding Al Saunders pitching to get Lloyd may be another factor in the Danny's urgency to replace Saunders with Zorn.
