Smith could have really used another year in college. He's got a great football mind, and I expect him to exceed his projection, though exceeding that projection in itself really shouldn't be that hard.
Smith should get the chance to do it though. I see the Niners winning 6-8 games behind the strength of their defense this year. They had a really, really shitty year, but they aren't void of talent like they were back in 2005.
