I'll let you guys know, since the big boss is going to be there I think he'll talk to both of them. Thanks again for the advice it's always good to get some outside input on this.

Discrimination is a serious matter and I don't think one employee calling an African American co-worker the n-word qualifies as discrimination. Certainly, if the assailant employee has a say in your future (i.e. your boss) it does but a co-worker on equal footing does not. If you report the matter to higher up and it persists then it can escalate to discrimination because it would mean management complicity.
