I'm not sure what Manning's old deal was but I calculate these are the cap hits of the new deal (000s):
2004 $6,285
2005 $6,415
2006 $15,750
2007 $16,750
2008 $17,250
2009 $19,750
2010 $15,800
Total = 7 yrs/$98M
I think Peyton is the best player in the NFL, but is he worth those cap hits? I'm not sure.
I think it's safe to say the Colts are cheering HARD for a LARGE increase in the cap in the coming years.
