But it's very early and I guess we all need to be patient, including myself. But when I see the kid from Cal having an outstanding camp for Philly, and it looks like he's going to be a real good player it makes me wonder. Did we really take the best guys on the draft board? Or did we just take big WR's who we think will help us in the red zone? I guess time will tell.
I disagree that the draft doesn't look good, that the WR's were drafted to help this year and that it doesn't look good if your top picks can't get on the field.

1) Other than Tryon, I think this draft looks VERY promising.

2) Let me clarify - Santanna and Randle-el were No.1 and No.2 going into the draft and coming out of it. Rookie WR's are in many ways like rookie QB's. B/c of the complexities of their position at the pro level, they will almost inevitably look lost in a disciplined system. Rare is the rookie WR that makes much of an impact in his first year. Quite frankly, I expect ONE of them to be a bust. If one ends up being a quality WR able to be a quality No. 1, then we did well.

3) As for top picks not making the field, IMO that would be true if it was a RB, DE, or DB these are positions that seem to be more talent than scheme driven. (RB: There's the hole, run through it; DE: There' the QB, sack him; DB: There's the WR cover him). OL, QB, LB and WR seem like positions that, unless the player is star quality talented, require time to learn in order to be good. I am betting that one of these guys ends the season as our No.3. If not, I will be disappointed.
