Second, it was not that long ago in 1999 or 2000, that the Patriots starting QB went out with an injury and an unknown, backup 6th round pick named Tom Brady stepped in and blew everyone away.

Third, the Pats have the EASIEST regular season schedule in the league.

And lastly, if you have to use a back up like Cassel, then look at the talent surrounding him. Moss, Watson, Maroney, Faulk, Welker. Not to mention a veteran defense that knows how to keep thier team in the game until the final gun sounds.

With the talent, coaching and schedule I think Cassel is programmed for success. If he blows this chance, it is unilkely he will succeed any where in the league.
I was just talking to my brother about this, (he's a pats fan) he wanted to make a bet with me about the Skins / Pats record. The better the record will determine the winner. I told him his division sucks, so he can have a good 10 wins, but the Skins have the toughest division bar none, so getting 9 wins for us would be a feat.
The Pats still have good talent, and I still see them in the playoffs, but they won't go far.
