Re: Irrefutable proof of the media bias against the Skins

Take a deep breath here for a moment.

Rookie coach Jim Zorn was handed a playoff team from last year. The only real story would be if he were such a bumbling idiot that he took that playoff caliber team to a 2-7 start. He hasn't; he's a good coach. So in terms of newsworthiness, his performance is diminished because it was expected.

Look at the Falcons. They were a disaster last year. They have a winning record halfway through this year with a rookie coach.

Look at the Ravens. I think they only won 5 games last year and they have 5 wins now in the first week of November this year.

Look at the Dolphins. They were a laughingstock last year. They are at .500 this year.

If you compare what the rookie coaches of those three teams have done relative to the expectations for those three teams and compare it to what Zorn had done with the Skins relative to the exectations for the Skins, you'd probably be a lot more surprised about the other guys.

It's not media bias. It's the media trying to tell interesting stories.

When the Redskins make the playoffs and Zorn is the only rookie coach in the NFC playoffs (I don't think the Falcons will make it that far) there will be several puff pieces about Jim Zorn at the time. Why then? Because at that point what he will be doing is unusual and therefore interesting...
