I didn't get polled for anything either. I mean it just seems to be the type of thing where they do it some places and not others...

Well you need to realize you are in one polling center, and they don't need to poll their, just certain locals in the state(or district) and I think wait and pick every 4th or 5th person coming out of voting to fill out a poll.
And don't be bashful, exit polls are usually pretty close.
