Yardage given up doesn't mean that much. If you have say an above average D yardage wise, but they are #1 in takeaways, that D will be more effective in getting your team to the playoffs than a D that has the lowestYPG allowed and few turnovers. Just look at Greg Williams' defenses, pretty good with the YPG allowed, but generated few turnovers. Blache's D this season was just as bad almost with the lack of turnovers, which really hurts since our offense turned anemic after the bye.
