Leftwich would not be just a younger backup for JC - Collins is almost out of gas - he also would be a cheaper alternative (likely vet min vs. $1.8 mil. for Collins).
So Leftwich as a backup would be both younger and cheaper. He's not a real West Coast qb but neither is Collins.
