Re: Do You think Betts is Expendable?
We all know Portis is the man. Unless he gets hurt.
Betts is a great second stringer. Yes, he filled in admirably while Portis was hurt which is why I would keep him and he has the ability to be utilized as a KR/PR. Unless we find someone else who is as good or better he's on the team.
I totally agree with those of you who keep saying Rock is a leader. No question. I totally agree with those who say Rock is one of the best special teamers. No question. The only issue I have is the fact he is not that great of a RB. The question I pose is if we could find someone else who can do KR and PR as good or better then Rock can we let him go? There is no questoin he's not a great leader, but we have leaders all over the field including special teams. If anyone was expendable in the RB position I would think it would be Rock only cause he is 3rd string, and only performs one job admirably and that being a KR. He does not even do the PR duties.
If the team wanted a slasher/scat back then I would hope it is one of the two Aldridge or Dorsey to take over the 3rd stringer position. Then the team can play Portis, when he gets tired put Betts in, and if they need a change of pace put Aldridge or Dorsey in whoever wins the spot.
Somewhere in there I would like to find a young RB for the future to groom to replace Portis and Betts. Now "IF" Mason should happen to step up and play better then Betts then keep Mason. I doubt that will happen as much of a Mason fan as I am. If they could find another RB who is younger to start to groom then fine. I remember recently the majority of you guys wanted the team to get younger. Now no one is expendable.
