I think people are making a much bigger deal about this surgery than it really is.

I think the people that are ready to drop him off the roster due to fear are a bit too quick to pull that trigger. However, most here are concerned about a surgery that CAN AND HAS ended a career. It doesn't sound like people are making too big a deal out of this as much as it is Kelly supporters making too little a deal about it. Any time you have a potentially career ending surgery, it IS a big deal.
I personally take the approach of giving the kid a chance. He has age on his side, so it doesn't hurt to wait 1 more year and see how it responds. If this is a problem 1 more time and he misses a large chunk of games, it's time to cut him loose and try again with someone else.
About cutting ARE (from a previous post), from a purely straight approach, he is not earning his money nor is he playing to the level we expected. Therefore he should be cut. However, I do not know his cap implications, and we may be stuck with him a little longer. How much more time does ARE need to show he deserved his big paycheck?
